Autumn Bassing with Bellavista.....

Although, the bass fishing has not been as in good as in previous seasons, the Bellavista crew have been getting amongst the fish. Owner, Kevin Murphy, has seen a steady improvement over the start of the Autumn and he is confident that the improved weather has had a lot to do with it.

Over most of the Summer the harbour was very coloured due to the quantities of fresh water coming down the river and even on the outer harbour marks water clarity was appalling due to the run-off from the land. The colouration and amount of fresh in the water was having a definite impact on the bass fishing. Now after a couple of weeks of settled weather with little rain there has been a marked improvement. Sandeels and baitfish have become extraordinary plentiful and on all marks terns, gulls, guillemots and comorants can be seen gorging themselves.

The bass have followed too and recent catches have been very encouraging. Here are a few photos to whet the appetite.

If you'd fancy targeting the bass in the harbour and beyond then one of the Bellavista small boats is ideal. Kevin can be contacted on 086 - 6029168. Alternatively, check out the Bellavista website here for more details.
